AlreadyOn

YOUR LIBRARY. ALWAYS SOMETHING ON.

Less scrolling.
More channel surfing.

Remember when you could turn on the TV and just see what was on? AlreadyOn brings that feeling back—with the movies and shows you already own.

Open source · Self hosted · Made for curious homelab testers

Tonight, on your own terms
THE GOOD PART IS ALREADY ON

A LITTLE LESS CHOICE. A LOT MORE TV.

The feeling you remember.
The library you love.

Saturday-morning cartoons. An old favorite halfway through. The late-night movie you didn’t plan to watch.

Cable TV in the ’90s and early 2000s had a rhythm: pick a channel, settle in, and let the evening happen. Today’s endless catalogs can make choosing feel like work. AlreadyOn turns your collection into scheduled channels, so you can spend less time deciding and more time watching.

ONE LIBRARY. THREE WAYS TO TUNE IN.

At your desk.
In your hand. On your TV.

Manage and watch in the browser, then take the same channel experience to Android phones, tablets, and Google TV.

THE CONTROL ROOM

A guide that feels familiar.

See what’s playing, switch channels, and build the experience around your library. Owners can manage media and server settings; viewers can settle in and watch.

YOUR COLLECTION, WITH A DIFFERENT RHYTHM

Make “what’s on?”
an easy question again.

A real channel guide

Scheduled programs make your collection feel like a lineup. Tune into what’s airing instead of choosing from a wall of titles.

A shared moment

A channel has a current program and position. Join the broadcast in progress—the familiar rhythm of linear TV.

Profiles for your home

Switch profiles and keep owner controls separate from everyday viewing. A single server brings your household’s library together.

Hosted by you

Run AlreadyOn in your homelab with Docker Compose. Your media stays on your storage, and persistent configuration stays with your server.

HELP SHAPE WHAT’S NEXT

A homelab project.
A better TV habit.

AlreadyOn is looking for real-world testers. Try it with your collection, tell us where you get stuck, and share the small changes that would make it feel more like home.

A few things to know.

Does AlreadyOn include movies or TV shows?

No. You provide your own media library. AlreadyOn organizes playback into scheduled channels; it does not supply entertainment content or subscriptions.

Can I use it without an Android device?

Yes. The WebUI provides a browser guide and playback. Android phone/tablet and Google TV apps are additional ways to watch. Browser playback depends on your device and media format.

Do I need a powerful server?

Start with a compatible x86-64 Linux Docker host or NAS. Requirements vary with your media, concurrent viewers, and transcoding needs. CPU-only setup is supported; demanding formats may need more resources. Test with a small library first.

Is this a finished commercial service?

AlreadyOn is an open-source project inviting homelab testers. Expect rough edges, check release notes, and help us understand what works on your hardware. There is no guaranteed support response time.

What devices are supported?

The current focus is the WebUI, Android phones and tablets, and Google TV. Apple clients, Google Cast, and VPN-based access are outside the project’s current scope.
